On 17 November 2006 Gaz de Normandie received the agreement of the board of directors of Le Havre Port Authority to carry out preliminary studies into the construction and operation of an LNG terminal within the confines of the port of Antifer.

The current shareholding of Gaz de Normandie SAS is as follows:

  • POWEO S.A.  73,29 %
  • CIM S.N.C.  26,71 %

POWEO

POWEO is the principal alternative operator in the French electricity and gas industries, with over 350,000 customer sites. The company is carrying out a programme to build electricity generation capacity from natural gas (CCGT) and from renewable energy: wind power, solar and hydraulic energy. The first 412-MW CCGT was commissioned in early 2009 at Pont-sur-Sambre in Northern France. POWEO was supported in this process by its main shareholder VERBUND, a historically Austrian energy operator.

CIM (Compagnie Industrielle Maritime)

CIM, a company which has formed part of Le Havre's social and economical landscape since 1920, operates the oil terminals at Le Havre and Antifer. It has storage capacity of 3,500,000 m3 of crude oil and 1,500,000 m3 of refined products. Its expertise in the storage and handling of petroleum products is widely acknowledged.
